Perth - Bon Iver
Although the boys of Bon Iver have been busy since their groundbreaking debut release in 2008, this has been a long awaited album for most I know. From Justin Vernon doing GAYNGS last year (Which is an amazing album if you haven’t heard it yet!), to the leftover members of the band doing Megafaun, another Vernon side project in Volcano Choir, to making music with Kayne, the EP Blood Bank, and a gorgeous track for the Dark Was the Night compilation… Bon Iver has become a large staple in the world of Indie music in a very short period of time. And for very good reason.
The upcoming Self-Titled album is currently #3 on the year of best albums in my book, only being nudged out by Okkervil River and The Antlers. This opening track is a great representation of what’s to come with the rest of the album.-jamie y. (GUEST POST!)

The Girl - City And Colour
I am super excited about stumbling upon this the other day on hype machine. I really like this song and this album. I thought his voice sounded familiar… turns out he was one of the vocalists in post-hardcore band Alexisonfire http://www.purevolume.com/alexisonfire/albums/Watch+Out! who I used to listen to a good bit a few years back.
Crazy.

Lippy Kids - Elbow
Elbow’s “Lippy Kids” from the album “Build a Rocket Boys!”
One of the first things most people pick up on Guy Garvey’s vocals is the uncanny similarity to fellow Brit Peter Gabriel. Elbow has built up a nice canon of music and collection of awards over the years, but for me their last two installments have been their creme de la creme. Their 2008 album, ‘The Seldom Seen Kid,’ won the band their first Mercury Prize, and their follow up ‘Build a Rocket Boys!’ is equally high marks in just its fist two months of being released. Hope you enjoy the second track off that album, a live version.
